Becoming an Official
Summer Officiating Opportunities:
If you are interested in officiating basketball, 4 on 4 flag football, or 5 on 5 soccer for intramural sports, please contact dmp54@wsu.edu. Previous experience preferred.
Each Official Must Attend:
Part I
Interested officials must attend one Part I per academic year. Topics in this session will include policies and procedures of the Intramural program as a whole. See a list of Part I dates and times below. Each Part I will last about one hour. Note that the Part I meeting and Sport Clinics may be completed in any order.
Sport Clinic
Training clinics are offered for each officiated sport. Clinics are offered two times for each sport, interested officials must attend only one. Topics in this session will include sport rules and officiating mechanics. Each sport clinic will last about three (3) hours. Please dress accordingly due to weather as some sport clinics will go outside.
Scramble
All officials must attend a scramble, practice games, following the completion of the sport clinic. The scramble will provide new and old officials with the opportunity to officiate games before the season starts. Scrambles are typically held on Thursday evenings.
