Becoming an Official

Officiating Opportunities:

NEW this year - No officials application necessary.  Please complete the Part I Module requirement if you are interested in becoming an intramural official for the 2009-2010 academic year.

If you are interested in officiating basketball, flag football, softball, volleyball, or soccer for intramural sports, please contact imsports@wsu.edu.  Previous experience not necessary but preferred.   

  

Each Official Must Complete:

Part I

Interested officials must complete the on-line Part I officials module per academic year. Topics in this session will include policies and procedures of the Intramural program as a whole.  Additionally, after completing this training, sport specific training materials, such as training handbooks and rules tests, will become available for officials to view and complete.  Complete the on-line Part I module here: Part I Official's Module  (http://imsports.wsu.edu/imofficialstraining/)

 

Sport Clinic

Training clinics are offered for each officiated sport.  Clinics are offered twice for each sport; interested officials must attend only one. Topics in this session will include sport rules and officiating mechanics. Each sport clinic will last approximately two to three (2-3) hours. Please dress accordingly due to weather, as some sport clinics will be outside.

Scramble

All officials must attend a scramble (practice games) following the completion of the sport clinic. The scramble will provide new and returning officials with the opportunity to officiate games before the season starts.  Scrambles are typically held on Thursday evenings.
