Level 1: Those who are working at a job for the first time at WSU and attend the appropriate training sessions.

Level 2E (Experience): Those who have proven their skills in completion of at least one specific sport season in an academic year (official) or one year of service (staff), received satisfactory evaluations, and demonstrated responsibility in performing their duties.

Level 2M (Merit): Those who have proven their skills in completion of at least one specific sport season in an academic year (official) or one year of service (staff); received outstanding evaluations; demonstrated responsibility, professionalism and leadership in performing their duties; and showed dedication in mastering rules, policies, communication, and game control.

Level 3E (Experience): Those staff who have proven their skills after at least two complete years of service, received satisfactory evaluations, and demonstrated responsibility in performing their task.

Level 3M (Merit): Those staff who have proven their skills after at least two complete years of service, received outstanding evaluations, demonstrated responsibility, professionalism and leadership in performing their duties; and showed dedication in mastering rules, policies, communication, and game control.

Officials are generally paid on a per game basis unless they are work study.  The "per hour" wage is adjusted to equal the "per game" wage if the length of a game is less than/more than 60 minutes.
