Points System

Points System

General Information

Teams will be rewarded for participation, level of competition, sportsmanship, and winning over the course of the semester.  All activities are divided into three tiers. Tier I consists of major team sports, Tier II is other team sports and select individual/dual activities, and Tier III is all other activities. You may also earn points for your organization in the coed division. The point system was design to reward participation, level of competition, and sportsmanship at a higher rate than winning. In this system winning definitely isn’t everything.

How to Register Team for the Point System

  • Obtain information online or at the SRC about all activities/registration dates.
  • Sign-up team/individual during registration period.
  • Circle appropriate living unit on registration form (MEN/WOMEN-at least 75% of the members must be from that living unit;COED-at least 75% of the gender from the living unit must be represented on the team; teams may have a female and male living unit represented on the same coed team).
  • Participants will be awarded points based on the league/playoffs in which they actually participate.
  • If divisions are combined for any event, points will be awarded based on the competitive point scale (see IM Point System Informationpdf)
  • Points will be totaled at the end of each set of sports (twice a semester) to update the results based on the procedures listed (see IM Point System Informationpdf).
  • If you have further questions, please e-mail imsports@wsu.edu.
